Volcano in Barren Island

Activity Overview

Mud volcano can be visited by both waterways and roadways. On your way to the Baratang island, you need to reach Jarawa Creek. It is around 250 to 300 meters and is walkable. It is can also be accessed by road from Nilambur Jetty. The volcano is a result of underground decayed matter which emits natural gas and helps in the formation of the mud volcano.

The mud submits above the ground is hardened as it is pushed upward by the gas. You can witness the mud crater at the top or the opening if the volcanic mountains. This is one of the fascinating things to do in Andaman for an offbeat experience.

Best time to visit: November to March.

Timing: 24 hours on all days of the week but you need to start early to reach and come back on time.

Entry fee: Only the transportation charge, depends on the type of ship or cruise you take.

Activities to do there: Cruising and watching distant Volcano eruption.
